Project |01 APAPO Committee for the Advancement of Professional Practice

Serving on CAPP for a three year term and as its Vice Chair was an incredible leadership experience.  Through CAPP, I was able to further my passion for state and national advocacy and integrated care.  I am the most proud of completing an Integrated Care Policy that addresses reimbursement, workforce development, colocation, and outcome measurement for psychologists.  I am interested in serving on BPA to provide cohesion and help with the transition with ongoing professional practice issues in the new membership model.

Project |02 OPA Past President

As Past President of OPA, I have been involved with a number of state advocacy and practice issues.  My presidential initiatives included governance restructuring, initiation of a healthcare reform task force, and increasing transparent communication among the board and members.  Leading a premier large state association has given me skills with finances and budgets, collaborating with a variety of leaders, engaging and valuing diversity, organizing and managing meetings, and executing successful projects. I continue to serve on OPA's Education and Social Responsibility Committees.  I am also honored to be faculty for OPA's Leadership Development Academy, a unique program that fosters early career and diverse leaders in OPA governance.

Project |03

Project |03 Integrated Health Psychologist, Cleveland Clinic

I am proud to have practiced in an integrated health specialty clinic at the Cleveland Clinic for the past 15 years, and have a strong understanding of the challenges and rewards of being a psychologist in a large institution.  I  have a strong understanding of how CMS practices including CPT and RVU values affect not only reimbursement but productivity and salary compensation for psychologists in academic medical centers and other large systems.   I believe the future of psychology will increasingly involve collaboration with other healthcare professionals and value based payment, and can provide knowledge, skills, and experience to BPA about working in institutional settings.

I was privileged to be part of the 2014-2015 APA Leadership Institute for Women in Psychology.  This opportunity linked me with amazing peers and faculty to build on my leadership skills and set goals. LIWP gave me the mentorship and skills to complete professional goals such as  Board Certification in Clinical Health Psychology and promotion to Associate Professor of Surgery in our medical school.  I believe that board certification and academic medicine appointments will become essential for psychologists practicing in medical institutions
